Last year, the Friends raised more than $13,000 at two book sales – in May and September – with the help of numerous enthusiastic volunteers.  In 2024, funds the Friends raised from these and other sources helped support the following special projects and purchases that the library offered for children and adults.

  • 9 library programs including Evenings on The Green and A Little Sunday Music that attracted 489 attendees
  • 11 events at Elm Avenue Park that were held in collaboration with Parks and Recreation and attended by 2,843
  • the purchase of books, activity books, book coupons, and other items for the library to distribute at events such as Bethlehem First Night, Holiday Lights in the Park, and the summer reading programs.
  • 37 museum passes available to borrow through the library
  • 4,600 eclipse glasses
  • grab-and-go umbrellas for rainy days

The Friends join library staff at the Memorial Day parade each year. Volunteers also assisted at library events including Thursdays in the Park, Trunk or Treat and Bethlehem First Night.
